How can we use A.I in day-to-day life?
From virtual assistants to autonomous vehicles, AI offers both convenience and efficiency. AI is revolutionizing your daily routines from waking up in the morning with your smart alarm clock, to going to sleep on your smart mattress, so it is important to embrace the new future. Get ready to unlock AI’s full potential and make your life more efficient than ever before, because the future is here.
As technology and AI are changing the world, transportation is heavily affected by it. Many drivers choose to drive autonomous vehicles due to their features which include self-parking and pedestrian detection. However, these vehicles have their flaws due to the complexity of these vehicles, and the large amount of data needed to make these vehicles autonomous. These vehicles continue to evolve and adapt, and will most definitely be on our roads in the future, but what about the roads? How do they use AI to make commuting more efficient and eco-friendly? Traffic management plays a significant role in our communing time and safety, which is where AI comes into play.
Traffic lights that use AI are able to learn traffic patterns and make predictions that can prevent unnecessary congestion. AI systems used for traffic control can monitor “traffic through cameras, thereby changing traffic light patterns based on real-time road situations and, consequently, minimizing road congestion” as stated by Mind Titan. In addition to traffic control, AI is also used to assess road damage like cracks and changes in the road’s surface. This is useful in preventing potholes and other road damage ahead of time, which can cost a lot of time and money to fix.
Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter use AI to improve the user’s experience. For example, an effective strategy that these apps use is customizing your feeds based on previous activity and other patterns. This improves your experience as a user, getting personalized content that interests you. These advanced systems can even remove spam as well as offensive material that may negatively impact a user’s experience. However deep learning in machine learning and AI can also have its negatives.
One example is the collection of personal data that some may find intrusive despite being used to create a more targeted social media experience. Furthermore, through a targeted experience, “by recommending content that users express interest in, social media platforms could expose users to questionable content, such as posts that spread disinformation” which could create biased beliefs in users, according to TechTarget. But with most technology, there will always be side effects that result as a consequence of innovation.
One such example of this is BRYTE, a smart mattress that can record and learn from sleep data, which is measured through sensors in the mattress. Another “Mattress company[,] Eight also syncs its smart mattresses with an AI-powered sleep coach app that delivers sleep insights and recommendations based on the person’s sleep history” according to TIME. Another example of how AI can be used is through sound detection when you sleep. Apps can be used to distinguish sounds like snoring and teeth grinding and give recommendations tailored to these sleepers.
There is much more technology out there that uses AI, and if we use it in day-to-day life, we can continue a healthy, efficient, and comfortable cycle of living. Using AI has improved many people’s quality of life and AI is the future of technology. If everybody embraces AI, we can all live in an advanced world, where technology enhances our daily lives and paves the way for a brighter future.
