What is NB-AI and how will it impact watching basketball?

Adam Silver, the commissioner of the NBA, and Victor Wembanyama, the #1 draft pick, unveiled a Generative AI tool at the NBA all-star tech summit in Indiana.

At the annual NBA All-Star Technology Summit, they unveiled a Gen-AI tool called  NB-AI that could transform the viewing experience for viewers worldwide.

NB-AI is a voice-activated assistant that can analyze and change live game broadcasts in real time—making the game engaging for viewers. It can answer fans’ commands to change the live game visuals to whatever they please!

At the demo, at Wembanyama's request, the NB-AI transformed highlights into a scene that looked like it was straight out of Spider-man: Into the Spiderverse. It transformed video footage from the Indiana Pacers’s game to a movie-like sequence, complete with animated characters, and comic-style annotations.

This is a great example of Generation AI technology, setting it apart from traditional AI by its ability to create completely new videos. Even though NB-AI is in its beginning stages at the moment, the opportunities seem to be endless for fans. As of right now, there will not be any implementation of NB-AI, however, fans can be optimistic about seeing and using the tool in the future.
